From the markets of Essex and Kent to Beccles
The market was founded by Toby Oddy, who grew up trading.
Toby's background is in market trading across Essex, Kent and East London, in grocery and fresh produce, followed by an international career in digital marketing and technology. Beccles Sunday Market brings those two worlds together: real market know-how and modern marketing, put to work for a Suffolk market town.
There's a nice detail in the name too. "Toby" is an old word for a market operator. A street trader's licence was once called a toby, so the name is both personal and a nod to the trading tradition.

The aim is a high-quality, well-organised Sunday market that serves the community and gives Beccles a regular reason to come into town.
The market runs across Exchange Square & Sheepgate, using the natural layout of the town centre to create distinct zones. Each zone has its own identity while being part of one cohesive market. Every visit is a little different, and every trader is independent.
